Buying the CPU (Processor)..

CPU( Central Processing Unit)
Add Image
The CPU is like the nerve of your computer, without it, you cannot run your computer. Usually, a motherboard and a CPU will come in bundle if you are planning to buy a motherboard but for the purpose of this guide..I'm gonna show you how to buy a processor

1)Socket
3)Types of processor
3)Speed
4)Motherboard Support

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As discussed in the motherboard section, there's different tyoes of sockets
available for motherboards. It depends on what type of motherboard you are buying.

Make sure that the processor you are buying is the correct socket for your motherboard. THis is the most crucial thing you have to remember..

An example im going to use is Socket 775 by Intel..

Socket 775 is currently the most common socket used by Intel in most motherboards. For this case, you will have to research which intel processors would support socket 775..understand? LOL!

Here's a link to all the intel's processors:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_socket

Also for the AMD side, there are also different type of sockets. U also need to
research on the processor that you are going to use for your motherboard. Currently now the common ones is socket AM2..U can use the link above to compare the sockets too..

HINT: For those enthusiast out there who are planning to build a gaming computer and is on a low budget, buying an AMD processor is recommended as their high ends processor and much more cheaper than Intel ones..but then, u have to buy AMD motherboard as well...=)

Ok,the performance of your PC also determined by the speed of your CPU. Before
you buy any CPU, make sure to check you motherboard specs for the maximum
FSB( Front Side Bus) supported. Most motherboards nowadays support up to 1600MHz of
FSB..Usually, if your processor speed (FSB) is lower than ur motherboard FSB,it should
be ok..

Well,u've heard of quad processor, duo core processor,pentium..etc..

Well, this depends on wad you are going to do on a computer..

Quad core processor means it has four main streams channels on a processor
which means that it can stream data 4 times faster

However, for duo core,it has only two channels, so it can only stream twice as fast..
and the rest and so on for the other processors..

Obviously, more channels means more performance since it has more channels to pass
through..So for those out there who id planning to build a gaming PC,it is recommended to buy a quad processor since most games required multiple cores to run. However though,
if ure on a budget..core duo should be fine...=)

Note* When you buy a CPU, the cooler will come together as a bundle..so i'm not gonna do a guide for this unless requested..=)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mobo Stands for Motherboard..Then again, as discussed in the motherboard section, u need to have a motherboard that support the CPU that u're buying. For example, if ure plannign to buy an intel core 2 quad processor, check the motherboard product details for processors that it can support..=)

Hope this answer ur qns..If you have any enquiries or questions, kindly bring it up to the tagboard or comment it here.=)
