PSU(Power Supply Unit)
This is the most freaking important thing that will need you computer to run..LOL
Without this your computer cannot even turn on..i swear..haha
So before u buy a power supply, there's a lot of thing to consider..u have to
determine the amount of watts needed to run run your computer..
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1)Amount of WATTs..
2)80 Plus certified
3)Modular and NO modular
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The amount of watt is categorised into three categories..
1)Low end PC 2)Middle End PC 3)High End PC
A Low end PC only requires about 350W minimum since you does not do much on
a computer. Low end PC includes surfing the web, listening to music..mostly
daily stuff but for gaming,u will have to reconsider on upgrading to a higher
WATT
A middle end PC will require about 450W to 600W to run. This includes
gaming, surfing the web, listening to music..almost everything that you are
doing on your computer..
Note*For running a high end gaming card, minimum 500W is required for
compatibility..Be sure to check the video card official manufacturer website
for more details..
Also note the number of pins your video card needs to connect..eg 6 pins and
8pins...
A high end PC will require above than 700W..this is for those hardcore gamers
out there who are planning to go for SLI and crossfire and using a water cooling
kit to cool your PC.. SLI and crossfire will be discussed more in the Video Card section..
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When u are buying a power supply, make sure to look out for 80 plus symbol/logo. This means that the power supply is certified for being 80% or more efficiency when it comes to delivering power to the system. .It will help save energy that is not being used and this will help cut down on your eletricity bills..
Here's the logo to look out for:

No this is not a maths topic or whatsoever..LOL!!
So there are tow types of power supply, one is modular and one is no modular. I will explain more about this below:
Non modular:
This in this case is a power supply with all the cables that is built fixed in the power supply. What it means is u cannot remove any cables that u do not need to use from the power supply.
A picture below is gona give an example of a non modular PSU..

Notice that all the cables are fixed and bundled together with the power supply...
Modular power supply:
A modular power supply in simpler terms is a ordinary power supply, just like any other power supply. But, in the case all not all the cables are used. What it means is only the important cables are fixed into the power supply..and the rest of the cables..well they are being sold separately..Haha..just kidding..Ok, so the rest of the cables are being separated from the power supply. U will only connect the respective cables when u only want to use it.
Here's a picture to show u an example of a modular power supply..

Notice that only the important cables are connected and the rest are being separated. U only need to connect them when u need it..
MODULAR VS NON-MODULAR
Modular power supply is getting more and more popular in the market today as it have become more reliable and essential to the computer user today. Since you only need to connect the required cables in the modular power supply, this will create more air flow in your computer casing as there's no huge bundle of unnecessary cables hung in your casing
which will limit the air flow of your casing..So modular power supply is a thumbs up when it comes to cable management in you casing
But there is one disadvantage of a modular power supply. That is it is usually more expensive than a fixed one. But don't worry though, it will only cost about $30 to $40 more and i think it is more worth it..
And here's a link to another tutorial video on how to choose a power supply in case u guys still have inquiries

I have included in the links section of some of famous computer online shops in the US...this will help you minimize your research before actually heading down to the stores and grabbing one...=)
Hope this answer your question..if you have any enquries, feel free to bring it up it the tagboard or comment it here..=)
