Installing RAMs...

Installing RAMs

This by far should be the easiest installation guide that you are going to read..LOL!!...no kidding,im serious..

In this guide, im going to use my team xtreen dark dual channel RAMs. They are very affordable and can be overclocked easily..

Here are some images of it.. Click on them to enlarge it..

Notice that I'm using dual channel RAMS which im going to focus on at the bottom of this post..

So now, let's get started with your RAMS...

To start off, u have to know where you RAM slot is, to recall back.. refer to the picture as shown below..

So firstly before u insert ur RAMs into the slot, u have to first unlock both of the side clips that is colored in white..this will allow ur RAMs to be inserted properly.. You can refer to the picture as shown below:

Similar to installing most memory modules, hold on to the RAM with both your hands and insert it perpendicularly into the slot.Always ensure that the notch on the RAM is aligned to the slot as shown below..

Here are some pictures to guide you:

The notch is to ensure that the RAMS can only be inserted in one direction...

Now, press the RAM down until you see that the white clips are back into place, or you should hear a click sound..meaning that your RAMs are properly installed..

An example is the picture shown below:

Dual Channel

Most RAMs nowadays are meant to be in dual channel if you buy more than one. This can be mostly found on RAMs that are sold in kits, for example 2GB kit which consists of two 1G RAMs and you can know whether its a dual channel or not by referring to the RAM packaging. (refer to my RAMs on the top of the page). Dual-channel architecture describes a technology that theoretically doubles data throughput from the memory to the to the memory controller. In simpler terms, it doubles the speed of your RAM performance.

If you notice your RAM slots, they are actually being separated, each having 2 slots each and on one different colour in each section. One section means single channel. Two of them means dual channel. So when placing your RAMs especially dual channel RAMs, make sure to insert one each for one channel in the same colour slots.

Here's some pictures to show you:

As you can see, I've placed the the RAMs on the yellow slots only.

The reason why u have to install it in dual channel is , if you were to install it beside to each other, this will force it into a single channel, meaning that it will have a big negative impact on the memory performance..

That's it, u have done installing your RAMs, let's move on to "preparing your casing" section next.. Click on the next menu on the bottom of the post..
