Installing Video Card

Ok, so now lets move to the installing of your graphics card. But before that, im going to give tour of the graphics card that you just bought so that you will understand the different connectors being attached to it..

For this case, im going to use my Palit HD4870 Sonic dual edition. It is a non-reference card that is overclocked from it default settings.

Depends on what video card u bought, it has different types of things that comes with it. In this case i got the DVI to HDMI connector and a 6pin to molex connector which is shown on the images below:

Firstly,when u received ur video card..there's a lot of connectors around it. Some of them u will need to use it and some of them you can neglect. For now i'm going to focus on the main things..

This is the two 6 pins connector shown below, depends on what graphics card you're buying some have one 6pins connector and some have an 8 pins and 6 pins connector. This is where you are going to connect your 6 pins PSU connector.

This is your crossfire/SLI ports shown below. Only crossfire/SLI ready video cards will have this..

This is your PCI Express 2.0 connector shown below..

Ok,so now i have given you a tour of the video card. Next, we are going to install it to the motherboard..

First of all,you will have to remove the PCI faceplate from the back before installing your video card.

Note*A lot of people get so excited on installing their video cards that they forget this step, as a matter a fact, they have to do a double job by removing back the video card and remove the faceplate..

Now then its time to install your video card..U should insert this in your PCI Express 2.0 slot..Example are shown below:

If you do it correctly,your motherboard should be inserted correctly, no slanted position or any related issues..

Finally, all you are going to do is to lock the video card into place..u can either use a thumbnail or make use of the tooless design of your casing.
