Buying the Dvd writer and HardDisk..

DVD WRITER AND HARD DISK..
Ok the reason why i combine this two together is because there's really nothing much to talk about except for the interface cables and the RPM speeds for the hard disk which im going to discuss below...

1)Interface Cables
2)Hard Disk RPM
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interface Cables in simpler terms means the connectivity that the device requires to connect. Two common connectors nowadays are IDE and Serial ATA( SATA)..

Before getting your hands on this two, you must check your motherboard what connectors is it currently supporting..

Example are IDE connectors and SATA (Serial ATA) connectors..This can be found on ur motherboard specs sheet..or you can look at the images below:

U must find out whether the hard disk and dvd writer you are planning to buy
supports the connectors that your motherboard supports..

Based on my experience, if u prefer IDE, u have to go for 50:50..meaning that IDE for Dvd writer and Sata for Hard Disk. This is because most of the motherboards i see today only have one IDE connector.

Note* For Harddisk, make sure to buy the 3.5 inch hardisk as not to mixed
up with the 2.5 inch and make sure to buy for the internal one...=)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RPM of a hard disk in simpler terms in the speed of the hard disk. The fastest “enterprise” HDDs spin at 10,000 or 15,000 rpm, can achieve sequential media transfer speeds above 1.6 Gbit/s. Currently, the common RPM that is in the market is 7200RPM and 100000RPM. Obviously, the 10000RPM is gonna cost more than the 7200RPM but if u're not on a abudget or u're planning on building a gaming computer, i would suggest getting the 100000RPM as it could affect ur gaming performance due to the transfer speed rates..

If u've done some reasearch on hard disk, u can actually notice that one has 16MB L2 Cache and one 32MB L2 Cache. Then again this is the performance levels..Well,the bigger the number is, the better but in the case there's really not much improvement in the 32MB L2 cache. I cant really see any difference between these two..=)

I have included in the links section of some of famous computer online shops in the US...this will help you minimize your research before actually heading down to the stores and grabbing one...=)

Hope this answer your question. If you have any enquiries, feel free to bring it up in the tagboard or you can comment it here..=)
