Buying RAMs...

RAM(Random access memory)

So what type of RAM are you gonna buy? OK, this by far should be the easiest thing to look for. You only have to look for three things..

1)Type of memory
2)Speed
3)Capacity

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before you purchase a RAM, u have to see the RAM that is being supported by your motherboard. You can check your motherboard for specs and details..

So firstly im going to talk about the RAM that are currently marketed and
widely used in computers today...There are other types of ram like SD-RAM and DDR RAM but these are quite old..so im not going to touch those..

To start off, DDR2 and DDR3 are two types of RAMS that are commonly used today

To know which one to buy, check you motherboard specs,it should say clearly on the box
whether it should be DDR2 or DDR3..

If your motherboard say DDR2,then u will buy DDR2..thats it..LOL!!

But, there's two types of RAM,one is SO-Dimm and one is high speed RAM...

An example below:

SO-DIMM RAM are the one that are naked. They are standard RAMs,it should run fine on any normal computer if you dont plan to overclock or building a gaming computer. If you building a gaming computer, high speed RAMs are the RAMs that you will need to buy. The shield there are heat spreaders which is going to cool it down when it's heating up...and you can overclock on it..=)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, for this one all u have to look for are the numbers that are in MHZ. for example, 1066MHZ..If the number goes higher, means the RAMs is going to be faster, increasing in performance, but obviously more expensive. Based on my experience, a 800MHZ or 1066MHZ should be fine..=)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You guys should have heard of 1Gig of Ram..2Gig of ram..etc..that's actually
the storage of ur RAM..the higher the storage, the faster will be
the performance of your PC because it has more storage to keep....Based from my experience, 2Gig should be enough to run vista and play games..

Note* If you planning to go above 3Gig of Rams, it is recommended to go to 64bit operating system as it able to read all of your RAMs...32 bit is limited to 3 gig maximum..=)

Also, heres a link to a short video tutorial, in case u still didnt get it..

I have included in the links section of some of famous computer online shops in the US...this will help you minimize your research before actually heading down to the stores and grabbing one...=)

Hope this answer your question. If you have any question and enquiries, please bring it up to the tagboard or comment it here..=)
